Music Ask By Emma (Part 2)

This has taken a long time to get around to but finally, here is part 2. I would just like to mention that it is so difficult trying to just pick one song for each category! Some of the songs may not be my favourite one for that category but unfortunately I cannot remember every song I have listened to. However, I do like the songs mentioned. All the songs I pick from part 1, 2 and eventually 3 do mean a lot to me in one way or another. Enjoy! 1. A song you never get tired of A Drop in the Ocean- Ron Pope 2. A song from your preteen years I Like it- Enrique Iglesias ft Pitbull (I also liked old Taylor Swift a lot!) 3. One of your favourite 80s songs I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore- REO Speedwagon 4. A song you would love to be played at your wedding Perfect- Ed Sheeran 5. A song that is a cover by another artist Colder Weather- Home Free 6. One of your favourite classical songs Toccata and Fugue in D minor- J.S Bach (This piece is widely known for it's

Turtles All The Way Down - John Green (BOOK REVIEW)

*Caution - This post may contain spoilers* "Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to persue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there's a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett's son, Davis.  Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living in the ever-tightening spiral of her thoughts."  'Turtles All The Way Down' is written in a brutally honest way, but I believe it is something that needed to be written. The way that John Green has written in the voice of character Aza is brilliant, he doesn't hold back or glamorise what it is like to live within one's mind. The story winds and twists and while it is predictable in some places, I can say that the ending is someth

Music Ask by Emma (Part 1)

About a year ago I saw a 'Music Ask' on Pinterest and I have decided to try it out. As there were so many I decided to do it in 3 parts. This is 1/3. I did decide to not include any film music in my choices because I would've found it much harder! If you want to hear the song just click on the name and it will send you to Youtube. Enjoy! 1. A song you like with a colour in the title Blue Ain't Your Colour - Keith Urban 2. A song you like with a number in the title 7 Years - Lukas Graham 3. A song that reminds you of summertime Summer Paradise - Simple plan ft. Sean Paul 4. A song that reminds you of someone you would rather forget about Clown - E meli Sa nd é 5. A song that needs to be played loud! Never Let Me Go - Florence And The Machine (But every song be played loud for the best experience) 6. A song that makes you want to dance Hunger - Ross Copperman (A lot of songs make me want to dance but this one makes me want to dance with someone, s

Have Courage...By Emma

Hi. Today was my first day back at college (doing A levels), something I know a lot of us are going through. It's only been one day and already I am overloaded with work and full of stress. As soon as I entered my first lesson my lecturer gave us 2 hours worth of homework to complete. I was really nervous for that lesson, believing I wasn't good enough to do biology this year and also because the lessons were doubles, meaning I was sat on the same stool for 2 hours and 20 minutes. After biology I waited until my next double lesson, which didn't start for another 2 hours and 25 minutes, so I studied hard in the library and also made a phone call to someone which ruined my entire day....anyway.... It was finally time for geography, which was also 2 hours and 15 minutes (why does it have to be so long??). Then I finally escaped home. Those were the negatives of today, a place to get my feelings and disappointments out. Now, it is time for the positives! Because there

The Changing of the Seasons...

It's almost that time of year where we say goodbye to the sun (well, rain in the case of England), and start welcoming darker evenings, shorter days, and colder weather. While this brings about the exciting holidays such as Halloween and Christmas, it's something that I'm beginning to struggle with.  We're barely into September and the sky is dark by 9:30pm, I'm already feeling the need to wear a big winter coat (I am freezing cold!), and well let's be honest my boots didn't even go away for the warm weather but that's beside the point. It is cold.  The cold isn't the only thing I struggle with during the winter months, although I guess it is the biggest one. I think it's because the days are so short, you wake up early and it's dark, and you go to bed and it's dark and you're constantly tired from trying to stay warm and the perpetual darkness. It sucks. The leaves fall off the trees and the landscape is bleak and my winter

Half Bad By Sally Green- Book Review By Emma

Nathan Byrne is Half Bad.  He's half White Witch....half Black Witch. His mother was a healer....his father is a killer. He's wanted by no one....but hunted by everyone. Source: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/07/a0/fc/07a0fc57e50023f0952fb308c58b8902.jpg A few years ago I decided to buy 'Half Wild,' a book which I first saw on a poster in my secondary school's library. I never forgot about it so when I saw it on the shelf in Waterstones I couldn't resist spending my money on it. However, that is the second book in the trilogy. If you recall back to my July Favourites  post you may remember that I mentioned buying some books in Llandudno, and one of those books was 'Half Bad,' the first book in the trilogy. I was so excited to read this book. The blurb intrigued me and the book cover is beautiful. The first few chapters were straight to the point, no explanation and rather confusing. But that was the beauty of it. I wondered 'w

How To Stop Time - Matt Haig (BOOK REVIEW)

"Tom Hazard has a dangerous secret. He may look like an ordinary 41-year-old, but owing to a rare genetic condition, he's been alive for centuries. From Elizabethan England to Jazz-Age Paris, from New York to the South Seas, Tom has seen a lot, and now craves an ordinary life." How to Stop Time is a captivating novel, with a heartwarming (and heart-wrenching) story. It follows love, loss, and so, so much more. It moves at breakneck speed through different times and places, but its quite easy to follow, with a truly brilliant storyline. Unlike Haig's real-llife book, Reasons to Stay Alive (read my thoughts on that one by clicking here ), this is a completely fictional story - but it does draw from the author's real experiences. When speaking about character Tom Hazard's condition, and him being over 400 years old, Haig said that when he was suffering with depression, he felt like he was 400 years old, because the illness had a funny way of making each day s
